MUSCAT: The Omani Society for Writers and Authors has announced the release of 42 new literary and intellectual titles in 2026, as part of its annual publishing project aimed at enriching Oman’s cultural landscape.
The diverse collection spans poetry, novels, short stories, intellectual, critical and historical studies, as well as children’s literature, reflecting the growing cultural movement in Oman and continued support for Omani writers and creators.
This year’s initiative marks a significant milestone, with the Musandam Printing, Publishing and Distribution House, affiliated with the Society, independently handling the printing of all publications for the first time — a move considered a qualitative addition to Oman’s cultural and publishing scene.
Said bin Mohammed al Saqlawi said that the publishing project remains one of the Society’s most important cultural initiatives, embodying its commitment to promoting Omani writers and books while strengthening their presence locally and internationally through modern and diverse creative methods.
He added that, through Musandam Publishing and Distribution House, the Society aims to revitalise the publishing sector and offer professional services at competitive prices to members, institutions and individual beneficiaries.
Among the new study and research titles are ‘The Biography of Shaikh Al Faqih Khalaf bin Ziyad,’ ‘Dhofar: The Symbol and the Human Being,’ ‘The Omanis and the Haj,’ ‘Identity and Citizenship,’ and ‘Gamification and its Role in the Future of Education.’
The collection also includes publications on Omani literature, cultural heritage, foreign policy and history, alongside titles focused on voluntary work, scouting and literary criticism.
In poetry, the Society released several collections, including ‘The Voice of Ginger,’ ‘The Joy of Souls,’ ‘Three Steps to Pick Jasmine,’ and ‘Silver Chains.’ The publishing programme also covers travel literature, short stories and novels, including ‘Europe as I Saw It,’ ‘When It Was Blue,’ and ‘Two Eyes Carrying the Sea.’
English-language titles released this year include ‘Travel Ticket’ and ‘Enterprise Application Integration for Omani Government.’ Meanwhile, children’s and young adult literature featured works such as ‘Muhannad’s Secret Adventure’ and ‘Can I Buy a Mountain?’
Al Saqlawi noted that the Society has published more than 430 titles since the launch of its publishing project in 2008, underscoring its role in supporting Omani authors, promoting national cultural products and strengthening their presence in the literary arena. — ONA
